RESEARCH & REPORTING
ACADEMIC RESEARCH: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
In 2023, AI sparked a global paradigm shift affecting individuals and industries alike. While many rushed to adopt this technology, I took a Graduate-level Artificial Intelligence Ethics course to explore how AI service providers could reduce harmful impacts on users; for my final paper, I argued that services like LLMs have a moral responsibility to protect customer privacy through transparency, user control, and data minimization, grounding my stance in 15 scholarly sources and the wisdom of ethical frameworks across time. Chicago police consider Tasers to reduce lethal confrontations
After multiple instances of police brutality sparked Black Lives Matter protests across the nation in July 2016, I chose to investigate the Chicago Police Department's practices, as well as its endeavors of systemic reform. Originally written for the Chicago Reader.
Marijuana: the question of legality in Champaign
For the final assignment of a Newsgathering Across Platforms course, I was asked to produce an issue story in November 2014 that localized a recent nationwide matter.
